What led me to this work: My first career was as a Cosmetologist (licensed hairdresser). I grew up with a passion for "doing hair" and was the one among my friends who did their hair. When faced with needing to go to summer school, I chose to change courses. I switched from general business courses to Technical School, for Cosmetology. Once I graduated, I was eligible (completed the required number of training and instruction hour; 600) to take the state board exam and licensure as a Hair Stylist!
Fast forward to working as a successful Licensed Stylist for five years, I received an opportunity to use my cosmetology skills at a manufacturing, hair product company in Research and Development. The next five years, I felt the need to get a degree, as I did not see myself as a "Stylist" forever. I went to college, received my undergraduate degree, and began working in Human Resources; eventually I received my master’s degree in business. My passion today is human resources, particularly, taking on long term project work (handbook rewrites, updating job descriptions, managing claims, and recruiting).
Why is this important to me: As an HR Generalist, for over 20 years, I have ditched the vastness of the job responsibilities and now in my business, I offer select areas that I enjoy and focus exclusively assisting employers within their HR departments freeing up valuable resources to perform high level.
My professional credentials: Master of Business degree with Human Resources minor, certification in Human Resources by HRCI (PHR) and with Society of Human Resources Management - SHRM -CP Toastmasters Member, CC, CL, co-author, NLP certified and Coaching certification, 2022 LETS Program participant.
